If you’re a seller that offers dietary products then this announcement is for you: Amazon recently updated their dietary supplements policy which mandates third-party verification for any dietary supplements sold on the platform.

This requirement came into effect on April 2nd, 2024 and wants to enhance safety for customers buying these products!

What are the changes to the dietary supplements policy?

In a nutshell, all dietary supplement products need to be verified through a third-party Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) organisation.

The previous policy required sellers to submit Certifications of Analysis (CoAs) from an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab, or show enrollment in an Indepented Quality Certification programme. Moving forward, CoAs will no longer be accepted.

What happens to products already certified?

If your dietary product is already certified to NSF/ANSI 173 or NSF 229 standards then your products comply with Amazon’s requirements. Amazon only requests lab testing for products that don’t meet these standards.

How to ensure your products are compliant with the new dietary supplements policy:

There’s a handy dashboard to help you manage this: The Manage Your Compliance dashboard shows listings for dietary supplements that require your action along with the due dates under Compliance status.

Listings may be subject to removal if they are not confirmed as being compliant with Amazon’s policy by the specified due date.

To ensure that your listings are compliant with our policy, you must use the Manage Your Compliance dashboard to initiate a test for each product with one of the third-party TIC organizations.

Once testing is requested, you’ll work directly with the third-party TIC organisation to complete the testing of your products.

For testing instructions, go to the Manage Your Compliance dashboard and select Add or Appeal Compliance.

Once they receive a test result that confirms compliance with their policy, your product will be eligible for sale on Amazon!
